EMT Classes in Delaware

During an EMT course in Delaware, students will learn the necessary skills to deliver prehospital emergency medical care to patients at the basic life support level.  Once the course is successfully completed, students will be able to recognize the significance of a patient’s injury and assess the requirement needed for emergency medical care.

Students will learn their skills through a variety of teaching methods, including didactic instruction, clinical rotations in hospital emergency rooms, and/or field internships with approved Ambulance Squads.  Some schools even offer students the ability to learn via EMT training online.

EMT Training Online

You may be wondering about EMT training online, although it’s not necessarily what you think it might be.  In most situations where online EMT training is offered, students are able to enroll in a Hyrbid EMT-B course, where most or all of the didactic instruction is taught online for the student’s convenience.  While practical skills training is still taught in person with an instructor and one’s fellow classmates, students who receive online training get the benefit of being able to complete their classroom assignments at home via their personal computer.

EMT Certification in Delaware

Once you have completed your EMT-B course, you will then be able to apply for national certification by taking the NREMT exams.  National EMT certification requires students to successfully complete both a cognitive (computer adaptive test) and psychomotor exam (skills test).

The NREMT-B practical exam is a state approved exam and will be given through state recognized EMT training programs.

When you become a nationally registered EMT, you can then apply to your state for certification from the State of Delaware. You must be a member in good standing with an EMS employer in Delaware.  Certification is good for two years.  Recertification requires a 24-hour EMT-B refresher course.
